Elias Samuel Vargas Canaviri, 22, of Silver Spring, was arrested on Nov. 20 following an investigation into the reported assault of a victim under 18 in the Manassas area between Oct. 20 and Oct. 21.
According to police, Vargas Canaviri sent sexually explicit messages to the victim via Snapchat before arranging an in-person meeting, where he allegedly sexually abused her during the encounter.
The incident came to light after the victim confided in a school counselor, who promptly contacted authorities.
Vargas Canaviri has been charged with:
Indecent liberties;
- Carnal knowledge;
- Use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children.
He is being held without bond, and a court date has not yet been scheduled.
